Extract’s approach to investment requires intellectually motivated and highly skilled professionals. Each of our investment personnel’s backgrounds, experiences, and skill sets brings a unique perspective. All three members of the investment team have worked together since inception of the Fund.
With over twelve years of experience investing in natural resources Darin currently serves as managing partner at Extract Capital, overseeing all of its activities. In the past 11 years, Darin has invested exclusively in the junior resource sector and built extensive relationships within the industry.
In 1999 Darin began his career at Deustche Banc Alex Brown in leveraged finance. As an Analyst, he helped to provide credit facilities for both healthy companies and companies undergoing financial restructuring including reorganizations. From 2002 to 2010, he worked as Senior Analyst and Director at Delaware Street Capital in New York. Delaware Street led corporate restructurings at a steel company in Ontario and a fertilizer company based in Mississippi. By 2006, Darin was responsible for managing the basic industry equity portfolio of Delaware Street. In 2011, Darin founded Extract Capital and the fund launched on March 7, 2012.
The distinctive and conservative perspective Darin applies to the resource industry reflects his credit background. In a sector that relies on sunk capital, Darin’s approach balances potential rewards with the inherent risks of being a price taker and having large fixed costs. His immersion in the sector since 2006 provides extensive experience, yet he has a broad perspective of the market that he gained during his tenure as a generalist.
Currently, Darin resides in New York City, and holds a BS BA in Business Administration, Finance and Accounting from Georgetown University.

As Mining Engineer at Extract, she provides in-house technical expertise reviewing all public and private investment opportunities in the mining and oil & gas sectors.
Early in her career, Krystal gained field experience as a junior geologist at True North Gems, exploring for emeralds in the Yukon, and through a work term with Suncor Energy in the Canadian oil sands. In 2011, she moved to the buy side, working with a Toronto-based junior resource fund and in 2012, she joined Extract Capital.
